Shabbos is supposed to teach us about the importance of the intangible values, love, devotion, dedication. We are supposed to spend Shabbos with our family and in pursuing spiritual pursuits. We are to promote those values which cannot be quantified by time but which underlie everything we do. That is why it says, “Six days work shall be done” in the passive. Work can only be done if people have these values. If they do not, then they will destroy themselves and others.
We saw this in Nazi Germany, where there were great enterprises but they were used to promote the destruction of others and eventually of Germany itself. They were not based on positive values. The Torah says, “This seventh day shall be for you holy, a Sabbath of Sabbaths to G-d.” Many people read about Shabbos, but they do not understand what the Shabbos is about. The Shabbos is to inculcate into us those values which do not occupy any space.
_____

There's social Shabbos, and there's Personal Shabbos. There's the shabbos that's a breath of fresh air taken off of a busy week, and there's the shabbos that breathes a breath of life! and activity! into an overly stable and stagnant pattern. It's gotta feel good, but the more it has to, the less it can.
________

Because the souls have been hidden away for so long. The Jewish presence has been so snapped, that we became only bones. Bodies walking on the surface of the earth. Now we're becoming souls. It's such a great thing to start - to be the reviving spirit of the Jews of Kishinev. (CLICK FOR FULL ANSWER)

There is a Gemara (Yevamos) that speaks of a person that converts to Judaism in situ- while still 'amongst the nations' having no knowledge of the precepts of the religion, he or she is considered a full Jew. An understanding of this is that one converts, not to G-d, but to the Jewish people, to the community, sharing history and destiny. What you are doing is exactly that, creating a community with a shared destiny seeking connection to the larger Am Yisroel.
